Prohibited Words Filter

Arrow maintains a robust list of prohibited words that are automatically added to each campaign. These words are available to view and edit under Section 4. Launch by clicking the “View/Edit Options” under the “Brand Safety” heading. This list can be modified at the brand’s discretion.

The default prohibited words list is tailored for English language campaigns. Keep in mind that what’s benign in one language may be offensive in another.

If a user’s name, handle, Tweet or Retweet with Comment (formerly known as Quote Tweet) matches a term in the prohibited words list, it will result in the user not receiving a response.

The user’s @handle is screened using a partial word match. For example: A user with the handle “@Michelle” would fail the filter due to a partial match for “hell”.

The user’s name and Tweet text are screened using a complete word match. For example: The Tweet or name “Michelle” will pass, but the Tweet or name “Go to hell” will fail the filter, with a complete match on “hell”.

The prohibited words filter only supports single words; phrases cannot be used. Before adding phrases as individual words to the list, consider how they may occur in a benign context.

Users who make repeated failed attempts to opt into any campaign are blocklisted platform-wide out of abundance of caution.
